The Imperfect Stranger and The Promised Pink Tulip

Image
Hello from me - The Imperfect Ss...stranger 🤣 Soooo, it has been a literal YEAR this week since I have been around here! 🤯 I'm back. What a year it has been!! This time last year we were finishing up our reading of the Bible through in 6 months... The Lord was busy doing so much personally in me and in our life as a family; We were adjusting to a health diagnoses for Mr Sojourner . I bought a car after almost 10years not driving and prepared myself to face some fears! We were getting ready for our biggest Little Sojourner to start (big)school and our littlest Little Sojourner to start preschool. And I found out there was another Little Sojourner on the way 👶 All day "morning" sickness, new school routine, preschool battles,  getting back in a car and much joy and anticipation followed over the months. This February we welcomed our little one. Another girl... Our 3rd Pink Tulip. Then COVID-19 Pandemic happened and we went in to lo

Hello, Fellow Sojourners x For those of you still reading along with the Bible in 6 months... how awesome is it to be through the Gospels now? I loved being back in the Gospels. In to the letters now...just a couple weeks left!! It is so worth it; Even if I never received any revelation or grew in knowledge during the Gen-Rev reading when I simply give myself just obediently to the process and go along the roller-coaster motion of at times having to hold on and make it through the difficult passages or hard slog books and then other times feeling like I can't get enough and could almost eat the book, but all the while just having a heart posture that is seeking and expecting the Lords Grace for the process! Then the bonus is when Holy Spirit breaths revelation, opens my eyes to something, does heart and life surgery and just sharing His NOW Words to us in our season too... He just shows up in such lovely ways! I have enjoyed doing this with friends and getting to bounce th

When I started The Imperfect Sojourner Blog in December 2018 I opened with a Welcome Post   which outlined why I named it The Imperfect Sojourner   and what my aim was in writing over the coming months... In that post I wrote the following; "How we sojourn is important. For the Christ follower we are to be made in to His likeness. I have concluded that above all our other achievements this is key  - though our 'doing' is important... our 'being' and the place from which we do is the critical backbone.  You can do all the right things and still miss it!   The pharisees are a good example of this! He wants us to know His heart and His Plans and to become in His likeness!  However, possibly like many of you, I have struggled to become all He has for me in this regard due to not feeling worthy to receive at a deeply personal level; unable to deal with my own flaws... not getting freedom right to the core of who I am because I was hiding!&qu

The Bible in 6 Months: Half Way!

Image
Hello Sojourners! I mentioned in the initial post about our reading plan that any time I have started the new year reading the Bible in 90 days it has helped to bring focus and clarity. It quickly separates and highlights Truth and that process exposes things in our hearts and lives that need work; areas where He is calling us deeper, where He is pruning, where He is healing, where He is bringing Liberty, where He is looking for greater obedience, where he is increasing our knowledge, awakening or deepening our prayer and worship, where He is teaching us the things of His heart and His Plans, and even releasing us in to new things. Molding us in to the image of Jesus should we stay on the potters wheel and give ourselves to His process. I hoped reading this time in the 180 or so days would have the same effect; Reading The Word chronologically, in volume, quickly, obediently (staying committed to showing up), prayerfully and  with open hearts, open eyes and open ears just a

Who is The Imperfect Sojourner? An Introduction.

Hi There! Lisa here. The Imperfect Sojourner. I figured it was probably time I properly introduced myself! I'm a wife and mother in my thirties from the beautiful green island of Ireland. I'm 12 years married to Mr. Sojourner and together we have two Little Sojourners. I enjoy time with my little family; we are total homebodies so for us our favourite things to do together are local walks, exploring, out for chats coffees and pastries, singing our favourite songs, getting on the floor around a puzzle, reading books or colouring pictures together, cooking our favourite food and watching a movie and we also love time catching up with our wider family and friends. Personally, I don't get a lot of 'me' time in this season of life so my dream hobbies are mostly on hold! However, I enjoy walking, reading, writing, being creative, taking photographs, coffees with friends, though most of the time I have little company with me in those, haha! I woul

The Bible In 6 Months: Preparing Our Hearts (Part 2)

Click HERE to read Part 1 In Part 1 we looked at The Word through the eyes of the writer of Psalm 119 which is the center Psalm in the Bible and is all about Gods Word Today I want to just briefly share a couple things that have been very important to me in setting my heart as I've read the scriptures or approached The Lord in any way even in my thoughts about Him. I am writing them in case they help or encourage anyone reading along especially through the Bible in 6 months. I won't go in to the back story of these lessons to me of The Lord for now... 1. Do not be offended with or fall away on account of God. In Matthew 11:6 Jesus says "and how blessed is anyone not offended by me!" Other translations say "does not stumble on account of me" or "do not turn away because of me" Here Jesus is talking to the disciples of John the Baptist who have come to see if He really is doing all the things they have heard. Initially it looks l

The Bible In 6 Months: Preparing Our Hearts (Part 1)

This coming Monday; 7th January 2019, I am starting to read the Bible from front cover to back cover in 6 months with friends. Some of you are reading along with this plan also. I'm so excited for what The Lord will do in our hearts as we immerse ourselves in his Word in context and in volume. Follow along daily on Facebook where each morning the readings for that day will be posted. I said in the introduction to The I mperfect Sojourner  "How we sojourn is important. For the Christ follower we are to be made in to His likeness... He wants us to know His heart and His Plans and to become in His likeness!" To walk like this out we need to be in The Word daily. However we also have to have an approach to the Word that is correct or else this is just another religious exercise! We must view this as relational at the very core and remind ourselves we are getting to know a person through our reading. We need a heart that is open to the lessons in the Word and to it
